There is nothing better than a hot bowl of delicious chili to warm you up during this cold season! My homemade chili recipe is very delicious, so easy to make and can feed up to 8 hungry people!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 pack lean ground beef
  • 2 large onions, diced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, diced
  • 3 stalks of celery, chopped
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, finely chopped with seeds removed
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 2 cans red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional to balance out any sour taste from tomatoes)
  • 1/2 tablespoon hot sauce (habanero)
Instructions:

  1. Heat cooking oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add lean ground beef, season with 1/2 tsp kosher salt and cook until well done. Using a spoon, remove any excess fat from the beef. Add onions, bell pepper, celery and jalapeno and cook until vegetables are tender.
  2. Stir in red kidney beans and then add diced tomatoes and tomato paste. Add remaining 1/2 tsp kosher salt, garlic powder, ground cumin, sugar, hot sauce of your choice, and mix well until all the ingredients are fully combined. Continue cooking over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce heat to low and let the chili simmer for an hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Serve chili over cooked long grain white rice, or plain by itself, and top with freshly grated cheddar cheese and chopped iceberg lettuce. Add more hot sauce if you like it more spicy. Enjoy!
