I was in search for a good sushi restaurant uptown because my usual go-to sushi joint used to be Gonoe which was good but didn't really have that wow factor. I had seen some great reviews for Mi-Ne Sushi and was very excited to try it out.
The restaurant is quite small so you may have to wait a bit to get a seat depending on the time you go, but the two times we went (which was late) we had no problems getting a seat. The servers are very friendly and accommodating by helping us choose items from their menu. From the two times we've been to this restaurant, we've tried their Love Boat (sashimi, nigiri sushi and rolls), Ocean Smoke Roll, Golden Dragon Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Kalbi appetizer and spicy chicken dinner.
Golden Dragon Roll (middle from pic above)
Shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber,
tobiko, wrapped with fresh salmon
The shrimp tempura inside the roll was a decent size and the salmon tasted very delicious on top. I love all rolls that contain shrimp and salmon together so this was perfect for me.
Spicy Tuna Roll (bottom from pic above)
These rolls were huge but it was disappointing to find that they hardly put any tuna inside! I only found out after opening one up and seeing an extremely tiny piece of tuna. The filling was pretty much all tempura. Major fail.
Ocean Smoke Roll (8 pc)
Smoked salmon, cream cheese, asparagus, tobiko,
crab meat, avocado, wrapped with salmon, special balsamic
mayo sauce, onion, scallion and torched on top
The Love Boat, which is for 2 people, was perfect because it had a variety of different kinds nigiri and sashimi which was more than enough. Also included were California, spicy salmon, and dynamite rolls. For the price of $53, it was well worth it because we were stuffed!
Kalbi
BBQ beef short ribs marinated in special sauce
Spicy Chicken Dinner
Grilled white chicken breast and vegetables
with homemade spicy sauce
Overall, I would say this restaurant is by far my favourite place for sushi roll, minus the spicy tuna roll. This restaurant is quite far (Yonge and Elgin Mills), but I would say it's worth the drive because their rolls tastes very fresh and the portion sizes are huge!
