What do you do when you find out that your favourite Korean BBQ franchise has a restaurant in Honolulu? You freak out and search for the location immediately! That's what happened when we found an advertisement for Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong on a random newspaper in Honolulu, which was actually on the day we arrived to Hawaii. It was such a random coincidence to find their ad on some newspaper that Kevin happened to pick up while walking along the main strip of Waikiki, or maybe it was meant to be!

After searching up the location, we decided to go there for dinner since it wasn't too far of a drive. When we arrived we saw many people waiting outside the restaurant and we were told it was going to be an hour long wait. We put our names on the waiting list and walked across the street to pick up drinks since it was hot outside.

We were seated after 45 min of waiting which wasn't too bad considering the amount of large groups waiting to eat. As soon as we went inside, everything looked very familiar. The round tables, vents and grills reminded me of the other Kang Ho Dong franchises which made me feel like I was back in Korea for some BBQ.

We ordered 3 sets of meat which came with corn, eggs, and vegetables to go on the grill, and several side dishes. Our server came around to check up on our meat to cook it and slice it up for us.

Pork Belly - Samgyupsal
The cuts of pork belly looked just like the ones they serve in Korea and they actually tasted the same! We were pleasantly surprised at how juicy and delicious it was. This was a great start to our meal!
Very thick pieces of pork!

Unfortunately, I don't remember what cut of beef this was, but it was extremely juicy and tender! We couldn't believe how tasty the beef was in Hawaii and how similar it tasted to the beef in Korea.

Another cut of beef I don't remember the name of. The meat had a lot of marbling which made the beef very soft and juicy. Every bite we took tasted amazing and we didn't want it to end!

It's awesome to see a franchise that started in Korea making it's way throughout the United States. The quality in food and service is very consistent to the restaurants in Korea and it is no wonder that the franchise is doing very well. Our meal at Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong was very memorable and I definitely recommend this place for Korean BBQ. You don't want to miss out!
