Located in Ilsan, Jang Su Maeul is famous for their Nurungji Baeksuk which is scorched rice and boiled chicken stuffed with rice and ginseng. It's the perfect dish to eat on a cold winters day or if you're sick and need a healthy light meal for a speedy recovery.

We had found this place while driving by and my boyfriend remembered hearing great things about this restaurant so we decided to check it out. We ordered the Nurungji Baeksuk, enough for 3 people to eat. The dish was served with nurungji jook (scorched rice porridge), kimchi, radish kimchi, cold pickled radish soup, sangchu geotgeori and salt seasoning for the chicken.

Nurungji Baeksuk 백숙, scorched rice and boiled chicken stuffed with rice and ginseng. The chicken was served on a big plate with the scorched rice surrounding it and it was topped with chestnuts, dates, ginseng and garlic. The chicken fell off the bone effortlessly and tasted really good. The scorched rice was my favourite part because you can taste a hint of the ginseng and it went really well with the chicken. Absolutely perfect.

Nurungji Jook 누룽지죽, scorched rice porridge. This was served piping hot and tasted very delicious. The weather was extremely cold that day so this porridge warmed us up really nice.

Overall, we enjoyed our meal and felt really good after because of how nice and hot the food was. If you're looking for a restaurant with the perfect comfort food during winter, Jang Su Maeul is the place for you!
