Korea is becoming increasingly popular around the world not only for their Korean dramas and K-Pop music, but their food! It's amazing to see how far this world has come to learning and exploring different cultures. I vividly remember back in middle school when a teacher of mine happened to be on a subject about Korea and had criticized our traditional side dish Kimchi, calling it a disgusting fermented dish. I was shocked and embarrassed at the same time because back then people had no clue what kimchi was. Had I known how people would view Korean cuisine now and how kimchi is considered one of the world's healthiest foods, I would have spoken up and defended my own culture because Korean food is awesome! :)

Among the wide variety of Korean dishes, Korean BBQ has widely gained popularity across North America and in many other countries. Korean BBQ refers to the Korean way of grilling meat, where the meat is cooked in the middle of the table on a charcoal grill or a gas cooking top, and is accompanied by an assortment of side dishes. Korean BBQ restaurants usually offer different cuts of unmarinated and marinated beef, pork belly and chicken. You can find so many BBQ restaurants all over Korea at a great price, especially in Gangnam.

The past two times I've been to Korea, I've dined at a popular Korean BBQ franchise called Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong. This restaurant is run by 678 Corp. and Korean comedian Kang Ho Dong, and now has locations in China, Philippines, Japan, Australia and the United States. This restaurant chain offers high-quality meats, hot stews and tasty side dishes. I've only tried their pork belly (except for the location in Hawaii which I will review soon!) the several times I've dined there and I have to say it was unbelievably delicious! The cuts of pork belly are thick with nice layers of meat, and it is very juicy and flavourful. When you order a meat combo, you get a side of doenjang jjigae which is a perfect accompaniment to help cut the grease in your meal. The grill has compartments on the sides to cook eggs, kimchi, garlic and onions which is pretty cool. Just like every other BBQ restaurant in Korea, there is a ventilation system right above the grill to help suction out the smell of the meat. With all this delicious food, you will leave very happy and satisfied.

Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong is one of the many things I look forward to when visiting Korea because they never disappoint and they always offer great food and service. And now that they have locations in the United States such as New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Hawaii, you don't have to travel all the way to Korea to experience this yummy BBQ (although you would have to go to the States lol). So if you ever happen to see a Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong near you, do not hesitate and just go try it!

The first time we dined at Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong. We kept ordering the samgyupsal because it was so good!
