Name: Bulgogi Brothers Ilsan 불고기 브라더
Location: 368 Ilsan-ro, Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do
Cuisine: Korean

I first heard about Bulgogi Brothers when I was in Toronto because they had opened a restaurant in Richmond Hill a few years ago. Although I haven't dined at that Bulgogi Brothers, I knew about the place and was surprised to find out that they had originated from Korea. We found this out when we were in Korea two years ago and had seen Bulgogi Brothers in Ilsan, which we then learned that the restaurant is a popular franchise located all around Korea and in many different countries in Asia. We didn't get a chance to visit Bulgogi Brothers during that time, but we visited the restaurant on our most recent trip this past December.

The Bulgogi Brothers we visited was in Ilsan, close to where we were staying. The restaurant was quite large and every table had a grill built into it. For a table of 4 people, we ordered the Beef Bulgogi with Assorted Mushroom set. The set came with porridge to start, grilled beef brisket salad, Korean lettuce salad, and we each had a choice of mul naengmyun or doenjang jjigae at the end of the meal.

Porridge of the Day 오늘의 죽
Everyone received a bowl of hot sweet porridge topped with roasted almonds. I loved the porridge because it was really creamy and delicious, a perfect start to our meal.

Grilled Beef Brisket Salad with Oriental Dressing 소고기 냉채
The salad was good, but I wished they put a little bit more dressing to coat all the vegetables.

Korean Lettuce Salad

We were also given a side of shrimp flavoured puff crackers which were refillable.

Beef Bulgogi with Assorted Mushrooms 특선 버섯 불고기
The pan of bulgogi was placed into the built-in grill on our table. It took around 15-20 minutes to cook everything. The amount of bulgogi they gave us was very little and it didn't taste that great. The flavours were bland and they put in way too many mushrooms. We were quite disappointed because we thought they would have delicious food since it was a popular franchise.

Doenjang Guk 된장국
The doenjang guk tasted alright, nothing special.

Mul Naengmyun 물냉면
I ordered the mul naengmyun which was refreshing and tasted pretty good.

At the end of our meal, they offered us coffee or tea to drink.

I don't recommend this restaurant because the bulgogi lacked a lot of flavour, the portions were small and I don't think they used the best quality meat in their dishes. You can definitely find better restaurants in Seoul that have delicious bulgogi, but unfortunately Bulgogi Brothers isn't one of them.
