Tim Ho Wan is a popular Michelin Star Dim Sum Restaurant with three locations in Hong Kong. This dim sum restaurant boasts high quality food at an affordable price, and therefore it attracts many locals and tourists for breakfast and lunch. During the weekend mornings, customers can be seen lined up outside the restaurant before the doors are opened to ensure they get a spot inside.

We heard about Tim Ho Wan before our trip to Hong Kong and knew that we had to dine there to experience this popular dim sum restaurant. On a Saturday morning, we got to the restaurant 20 minutes before they opened because we knew there would be a line formed outside. As soon as they opened the doors, we were seated right away and given a dim sum paper menu. We ordered several dishes that were considered popular and a few others that we knew we wanted to try.

Clean interior with many tables to accommodate a large number of customers.

Paper placemat displaying popular dim sum items.

Spring Roll with Egg White ($24 HKD)
Served hot and fresh, these spring rolls were flavourful and had a nice crunch on the outside.

Deep Fried Dumpling filled with Meat ($14 HKD)
Perfectly crusted on the outside, and soft and gooey on the inside, these deep fried dumplings were very tasty and left me wanting more.

Baked Bun with BBQ Pork ($18 HKD)
A popular must-have food item from Tim Ho Wan is their Baked Bun with BBQ Pork. The pastry had a soft and flaky crust that had a hint of sweetness, and inside the bun contained a delicious BBQ Pork filling that was rich and saucy. Absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend these baked buns.

Glutinous Rice Dumpling ($25 HKD)
One order of this glutinous rice was big enough for two people to share.

Steamed glutinous rice filled with delicious meat and mushrooms.

Vermicelli Roll with Pig's Liver ($20)
Kevin tried the vermicelli roll since I don't eat pig liver and he enjoyed it.

Dumpling Teochew Style ($13 HKD)
This dumpling contained peanuts, pork and a variety of minced vegetables which gave the dumpling a crunchy texture.

Steamed Beef Ball with Bean Curd Skin ($17 HKD)
These beef balls tasted alright but we weren't crazy about them.

Prawn Dumpling ($25 HKD)
These dumplings contained big prawns that tasted very fresh and juicy, and the skin of the dumplings were soft and thin.

Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce ($17 HKD)
A dish we always order at any dim sum restaurant is spare ribs with black bean sauce. These spare ribs were succulent and tender, and the sauce didn't overpower the flavour of the beef.

Pork Dumpling with Shrimp ($25 HKD)
You can't go wrong with pork dumplings with shrimp, also known as siu mai. These tasted incredible!

Overall, we agreed that Tim Ho Wan is the best dim sum restaurant we've ever dined at. From their delicious food to their affordable prices, this restaurant offers diners a great experience in trying the freshest, high quality dim sum with great service. For a total of 10 dishes, the price came out to $204 HKD which is around $33 CAD. What a great price! We loved this restaurant so much that we ate there again for lunch on our last day in Hong Kong. If you're visiting Hong Kong, you definitely don't want to miss checking out Tim Ho Wan for their dim sum!
